Why Use The Pet Cottage Re-Home Program?


The Pet Cottage Senior-to-Senior, Adopt, and Fospice Programs aim to match pets who have lost their humans with a home that will love and care for them for the rest of their lives.


We conduct home visits, meet and greets, and call references to determine the perfect fit so we can give you peace of mind when having to make a plan for your pet. Our promise is to the pet for the rest of their lives, so we make contact with the new family on a bi-weekly basis.


Once a part of the pack, always a part of the pack.

The donation request to re-home a pet is $1000.00.

The health and behavior assessment are $300.00.


Each pet must be seen by our Veterinarian and be assessed by our trainer/behaviorist.


The Pet Cottage mission is to provide guardianship for pets that have lost their human companions due to death, disability or military deployment for the remainder of their lives.


The Pet Cottage is a Sanctuary and only accepts pets that we can promise to provide a home to for the rest of their lives.


​Each situation is unique. We can assist on a case by case basis, dependent on the needs, and our availability to meet those needs.


  The Pet Cottage professional will schedule an in-person home visit to evaluate the pet behaviorally for potential foster or re-homing placement.


  • The pet must be seen by our vet for a health check and clearance to be re-homed.

  • The following veterinary care is required:

  1. Spay/Neuter

  2. Current Rabies and Distemper Vaccines

  3. Test for heartworm and results within 1 year

  4. For senior dogs (7 and older), a full senior panel​​


If documents proving the pet has these requirements, just a healthy exam is expected.

​​​Based on your application, the home visit, and behavioral assessment, the Pet Cottage will determine if acceptance into our pack is the solution for your pet.

  • Once accepted a good faith deposit of $500.00 must be paid.

  • At the time you relinquish ownership of the pet to be placed in it’s new home the remainder of requested donation fee is due. $500.00.

  • Each application is reviewed within three (3) business days. You will receive a phone call from a representative of The Pet Cottage to discuss your application and provide additional details, as necessary.

WAIVER: If your application is approved, the requestor of assistance, do hereby certify that I will release and relinquish ownership of the above-described animal to The Pet Cottage. The requestor of assistance agrees to pay the agreed-upon assistance fee(s). Furthermore, I do hereby authorize The Pet Cottage to do what is in the interest of the safety and well being of said animal.
