Re-Homing Program

Why Use The Pet Cottage Re-Home Program?

The Pet Cottage Guardian Programs match pets who have lost their humans with a home that will love and care for them for the rest of their lives.

We are thorough in selecting guardians. We conduct home visits, meet and greets, and call references. Our promise is to the pet for the rest of their lives. We provide support to our guardians on a regular basis.

Once a part of our pack, always a part of our pack.

The donation request to re-home a pet is $1500.00

If the pet needs to be seen by our Veterinarian to have vaccinations updated and/or a health needs assessment, the family relinquishing ownership will be asked to make an additional contribution to cover these expenses.

The Pet Cottage is a Sanctuary and only accepts pets that we can promise to provide a home to for the rest of their lives.

Each situation is unique. We assist on a case by case basis, dependent on the needs, and our availability to meet those needs.

A Pet Cottage professional will schedule an in-person visit to meet the pet and to determine if the pet is a good candidate for one of our guardian programs.

  • The pet must be up to date on the following or must be seen by our Veterinarian.

The following veterinary care is required:

Spay/Neuter

Current Rabies and Distemper Vaccines

Test for heartworm and results within 1 year

For senior dogs (7 and older), a full senior panel

Based on your application, the home visit, and behavioral assessment, the Pet Cottage will determine if acceptance into our pack is the best solution for your pet.

  • Once accepted a good faith deposit of $500.00 must be paid.

  • At the time you relinquish ownership of the pet to be placed in its new home the remainder of the requested donation, $1000.00 is due.
