Our Mission

The Pet Cottage is a private sanctuary for pets that have lost their humans due to death, disability or military deployment. We provide lifelong guardianship through sanctuary residency, forever fosters, or rehoming.

Our Vision

To obtain a property that can provide private sanctuary for pets that have lost their humans due to death, disability or deployment. Where the caretakers live on the premises and homestyle care is the environment. A community that honors pets for the role they play in our lives and accommodates their needs for the rest of their lives.

Pets of the Month

Oliver and Apple

Oliver and Apple’s Story

Oliver and Apple were living with a couple. The wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and in the beginning of the disease, the pups were great company and comfort. From puppyhood both had health issues of their own. As their Mom’s illness progressed, the care for the pups with special needs, along with her illness became too much.

The gentleman was uncertain of what to do. One of the woman’s aids who accompanied the dogs to the Vet’s alerted the vet of his increasing frustration.

Dr.Vinoski alerted The Pet Cottage and we contacted the husband and said we can help. He agreed and we began the search to find a loving home that could responsibly manage the special care Oliver and Apple required.

King Charles Cavaliers are loved by many and there was a lot of interest. We were diligent in screening and choosing a family that could handle the amount of care they need.

They are now living with an amazing family that is meticulous with their care. We are grateful for their participation in our pack. Pets, like Oliver and Apple, often come to our pack with health issues. Frequently, health issues are age-related and require daily medications. The Pet Cottage’s monthly veterinarian bill averages $1700.00

We appreciate all contributions.
